CAPE TOWN – Temba Bavuma has been released from the national squad to play for the Cobras against the winless Knights at Newlands on Wednesday.

Apart from Bavuma, Ashwell Prince, the Cobras coach, also welcomes back Aviwe Mgijima while Richard Levi misses tomorrow's match due to injury.

Although in good form, winning four of their first six matches of the campaign, including a thrilling one-wicket triumph against the Multiply Titans at Newlands last week Friday, Cobras coach Ashwell Prince, and his players are wary of the Bloemfontein-based side and the quality players they possess within their ranks.

"There are no easy games to play in the competition. Yes, they don’t have any momentum so far in the tournament and have not managed to put things together, but they have match winners in their team and have a few international players available, having been released from the national team," said Prince.

After a fantastic campaign in the 50-over format last season, where the Knights finished second in the log standings and narrowly lost out in the qualifier against the Warriors, they have failed to replicate that form in the 2017/18 campaign, only managing two tied matches and are yet to pick up a victory, but Prince and the Cobras side are certainly not taking this fixture lightly - with extensive homework conducted on the opponents.

The match starts at at 1.30pm.

Cape Cobras squad: JP Duminy (c), Temba Bavuma, Dayyaan Galiem, Simon Khomari, Rory Kleinveldt, George Linde, Pieter Malan, Aviwe Mgijima, Tshepo Moreki, Mthiwekhaya Nabe, Wayne Parnell, Dane Paterson, Kyle Verreynne, Lizaad Williams
