PAARL – Dane Paterson's 12th five-wicket haul of his career restricted the Highveld Lions to 337 all out, before Nono Pongolo struck back for the visitors during the first session of Day 2 at Boland Park.

Paterson is certainly the form seam bowler on the 4-Day Domestic Series. The Cobras opening bowler added a further scalp to his four wickets on Monday to finish with 5/81. This follows-up on his six-wicket haul in the Dolphins' second innings at Newlands last week.

With captain Dane Piedt (3/119) also chipping in with two wickets, it ensured that the Lions could only add a further 37 runs to their overnight total.

LUNCH Day 2 | Despite starting off the day by wrapping up the @LionsCricketSA innings, the visitors fought back well with three early wickets of their own to leave the @WorldSportsBet Cape Cobras still trailing by 267 runs at lunch.

The Cobras' response has been a stuttering one thus far with Pongolo trapping both Malan brothers LBW. Pieter was the first to be dismissed for three, while Janneman fared slightly better before he too returned to the pavilion for 22

The home team slipped further into the quagmire when David Bedingham was clean bowled by Nanded Burger for four.

It was left to Zubayr Hamza (20 not out) and Aviwe Mgijima (18 not out) to see out the remainder of the session as the Cobras went to lunch on 70/3.
