One new cap has been selected for the Border Bears cricket team to oppose Supersport champions, KwaZulu-Natal in their opening Supersport match of the season at Kingsmead, Durban, on Friday.

Former Boland medium-pace bowler, Andrew Pringle gets his opportunity in the absence of West Indian professional, Vasbert Drakes, currently appearing in the ICC Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka where he is representing the West Indies in international play for the first time in seven years.

Pringle is at present at Rhodes University and did not appear in first-class cricket last summer after making his debut for Boland in 2000-2001.

He is a cousin of former Protea fast bowler, Meyrick Pringle and was educated at St Andrew's College, Grahamstown and Stellenbosch University.

During 1994-96 he represented the Eastern Province Schools XI.
