The Proteas will play two T20 Internationals against England.

As has been the case over the past few summers, the Proteas have pitted their skills against the KFC Mini cricket Kids.

Thursday was no exception, when our heroes in green and gold took on St Andrews from Saldanha Bay.

The Proteas managed to square the series in the KFC Mini-Cricket Kids vs Proteas tour this afternoon as PPC Newlands.

This series was very similar to the Proteas vs England ODI series where the Proteas went down 2-0 and had to fight back but they showed character and took the last two games of the series to square it.

In Thursday game the Proteas consisting of Kagiso Rabada, captain, Imran Tahir, David Miller, Rilee Russouw, Stian van Zyl, Odine Kirsten, Michelle Burt and Laura Wolvraadt, won the toss and decided to bat first.

The Proteas got off to a fantastic start of 20 in the first partnership with Kagiso Rabada and Imran Tahir scoring 10 each. The KFC Mini-Cricket kids fought back hard and the Proteas battled to score runs, David Miller and Rilee Russouw came in next and only managed to score 3 and 5 respectively, Stiaan and Adrie tried to get the Proteas back on track for a competitive total scoring 9 and 3 but still they were not as good as the first batting pair. The last pair, Michelle Burt and Laura Wolvraat, did not do much better scoring 6 and 4.

The Proteas only managed 48 runs in their 8 overs which means that they needed to bowl well to save the series.

The KFC Mini-Cricket kids struggled to get good partnerships going. The first batting pair managed to put on only 10 runs thanks to 9 runs from Mike Theunis, the second partnership only scored 10 runs thanks to 9 runs from Caden Louw and the third partnership also put on 10 runs thanks to 8 runs from Caden Julies. This left the final pair two overs to score 19 runs to win the game. Michelle Burt and Laura Wolvraat were the Proteas bowlers intrusted to bowl the last two overs and they did not let the team down. Michelle took 1/7 and Laura managed to concede only 9 runs with 4 of them being scored off the last ball.

In the end the Proteas were too good and managed to win the game by 2 runs.

Caden Louw was the man of the match with his 9 runs and figures of 2/5.

Five lucky readers can win a ticket for themselves and a partner to see the Proteas face England at Bidvest Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg, Sunday, February 21, for the final T20 International against England.
