East London - Team Neotel's Nolan Hoffman on Sunday in East London showed he has retained his form after the Tour of Langkawi by winning the 100km Daily Dispatch Felt Cycle Tour.

The orange-clad riders set off on the challenging route and had some stiff opposition in the form of House of Paint and MTN.

The bunch set-off at a rather quick tempo and it did not take long for the attacks to start.

An early move, approximately 15km into the race, saw Neotel's Tiaan Kannemeyer as well as Jay Thompson and David George (both MTN), Travis Allen (House of Paint) and Johan van Zyl (Garmin Felt) getting clear of the pack.

The group maintained a good steady pace and their lead was soon over the two-minute mark.

Back in the peloton, Team Neotel and House of Paint realised the danger of Thompson's presence in the break and they soon organised the chase. With both teams driving hard the gap was whittling away and soob the escapees were back in the fold.

What ensued was a flurry of aggressive attacking by all of the big teams and a select group eventually managed to elude the pack.

The split was decisive as it contained the Neotel trio of Nolan Hoffman, Johann Rabie and Jang Chan Jae, while MTN had Thompson and Juan van Heerden.

The House of Paint sprinter, Jamie Ball, along with team mate Richard Baxter, was also in the mix and a bunch sprint was going to decide the victor.

In the dash for the line the Neotel riders made their presence felt and Rabie and Jae were on hand to give Hoffman a solid lead out and he showed some real speed as he surged ahead to take a superb victory.

He was followed home by Ball and van Heerden who were 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Neotel's Chan Jae took 4th and the Korean sprinter is really starting to find some good form.

The win puts Hoffman in a good attacking position just 5 points adrift of Ball in the Alpha Pharm Seeding Series.

Jang Chan Jae is also not far off contention as he has put in some consistent sprints to date.
