CAPE TOWN - South Africa's most celebrated beach sprint specialist Ryle de Morny will spearhead Team South Africa's men's sprint and flags challenge at the World Championships in Australia in November.

De Morny, who finished second to KwaZulu-Natal's Johnathan Rorke in the 2017 and 2018 General Tire Club National Championships, has had no equal in the flags discipline and his excellence in both events gives him another opportunity to add to his 10 World Championship medals.

De Morny, of False Bay and Western Province, is joined in the men's squad by Fish Hoek and Western Province's brother duo of Dominic and Nick Notten.

The younger Notten, Nick, won the 2018 Iron Open at the National Club Championships and was second at the National Interprovincials in the Iron Open. He is the 2018 overall South African Senior Male Champion.

Kwazulu-Natal’s female lifesavers will double as Team South Africa’s senior women’s squad at the Lifesaving World Championship, which will be held in Adelaide from November 21st to 25th.

The KZN super six were brilliant at the General Tire National Club Championships in Port Elizabeth and as immense at the General Tire Interprovincials in Durban.

Marine, who won the overall South African National Club title, make up five of the six places, with South Africa’s 2017 Female Lifesaving Athlete of the Year Carmel Billson the leading star.

Mandi Martiz, who has dominated the sprint and flags events for the last decade, has been selected alongside rising star Bianca von Bargen.

Maritz, of Durban Surf, breaks the Marine monopoly in the senior squad.

Marine is also well represented in the Men’s Senior Squad through South African Commonwealth swimmer Martin Binedell and Joshua Saunders.

The (mentioned) WP trio of De Morny, Notten brothers and TUKS' Johan Lourens complete the Men's Senior Squad.
