Santos have signed the experienced and wily Bennett Masinga from Ajax Cape Town and he is expected to take the pressure off Mauritian forward Jean-Marc Ithier when they face Jomo Cosmos at Green Point Stadium on Friday night (kick-off 8.30pm).

Ithier has become a marked man after scoring eight goals in 11 appearances for Santos and the management feel they need another predator to take the attention away from the big Mauritian.

Masinga, 34, who is a cousin of Bari's Phil, made a name for himself at Sundowns where he played nearly 300 games, scoring more than a 100 goals. He also has six Bafana Bafana caps and one goal for the national side to his name.

Last season, Masinga played a huge role in Seven Stars' superb debut season in the PSL. He has struggled with injury this season and, on his return, failed to win a regular place in the Ajax line-up.

Santos are hoping Masinga can take some of the weight off Ithier's shoulders.
