JOHANNESBURG – Soon after arriving back on South African soil after their triumph at the Dubai Sevens, members of the Springboks Sevens team will feature in a unique live-streamed information session.

The event will address an important issue in rugby that is high on the SA Rugby agenda through its Boksmart initiative.

Springbok Sevens stalwarts Seabelo Senatla and Kyle Brown will team up with referee Cwengile Jadezweni on Tuesday, before the Cape Town Sevens on Saturday and Sunday, in a Facebook Live information session on concussion.

The session, from 12noon to 12.30pm on the Springboks’ Facebook Page, will be facilitated by SA Rugby’s senior manager for rugby safety, Wayne Viljoen, along with SA Rugby senior manager for medical, Clint Readhead, and Springbok Sevens team doctor, Leigh Gordon.

These professionals will touch on effective ways to prevent, identify and manage concussion, and will highlight what SA Rugby is doing in this regard.

They will be discussing the subject from various angles to provide a better understanding about concussion and how players, medical staff, referees, schools and clubs, can all contribute to best practice concussion management.

The players, referee and medical team, will give some practical tips to assist in the prevention of concussion.
