GABORONE – The Kenyan women's team qualified for the Sevens World Cup to be held in San Francisco, United States, when they won the Rugby African title in Gaborone, Botswana, on Sunday.

They will be one of 16 teams in the World Cup which will be held from July 20-22.

The Kenyans achieved this honour with solid performances the whole weekend, before defeating Uganda 29-7 in the final.

The winner of the “Africa Women’s Sevens” is the 2018 African champion and automatically qualifies for the Sevens World Cup.

South Africa, initially the favourites for the title, withdrew from the event although the Springbok Women have already qualified for the World Cup.
