The Springbok squad for the start of the Rugby Championship will be named on Saturday after the Super Rugby final, which will be staged on the same day at Ellis Park in Johannesburg.

The 33-man Bok squad will be announced at approximately 6.45pm on Saturday evening.

The players will assemble on Tuesday, August 8 in Port Elizabeth to start with their preparations for the first Test against Argentina at Port Elizabeth’s Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday, August 19 (5pm kickoff).

One of the big question marks will be whether captain Warren Whiteley will be fit to face Los Pumas, as he was ruled out of the final French Test in June and the Super Rugby playoffs with a groin injury.

Springbok coach Allister Coetzee and his management staff will arrive a day earlier already in the Friendly City.

There will be several opportunities for Port Elizabeth rugby supporters to engage with the Springboks in the two-week build-up to the Pumas Test, with full details to be confirmed in the next few days.
