Under-19 rugby stars gather Cape Town

Seventy-seven of the country's promising under-19 rugby player's gathered in Cape Town on Monday for a week-long training camp at the beginning of Sarfu's preparations for the end-of-year tour to Europe and the 2003 Fira Junior World Championships.

Sarfu has also confirmed the appointment of Eugene Eloff of the Golden Lions as the new SA Under-19 coach. He succeeds Lions senior coach Frans Ludeke. Eastern Province's Oersond Gorgonzola and Border's Dumisani Mhani are the two assistant coaches.

The second trial match will be played at the University of the Western Cape on Wednesday.

The programme will also include fitness tests, strength and endurance training, skills training and advice on nutrition.

The group will be trimmed to 44 after Wednesday's trial games. From this group, a squad of 26 will be selected to take part in the four-match tour of Wales and France at the end of the year.
