Nompumelelo Nyandeni and Kylie-Ann Louw will join the South African national senior women's side in Cyprus on Friday ahead of the 12-Nations tournament starting next week Tuesday.

The two experienced midfielders replace striker Zanele Sukazi and striker Nocawe Skiti, who were both part of the 22-women squad which held a training camp in Brazil.

Sukazi and Skiti head home while the rest of the squad travel directly to Cyprus later on Thursday.

The coaching staff also called up goalkeeper Nkosimphile Zungu, replacing the injured Mputle Ntshatsana who sustained a knee injury during the 11-day training camp.

Meanwhile, Banyana Banyana concluded their Rio de Janeiro trip with a practice match against Selecao do Marinha, thrashing them 5-1 on Wednesday.

Having given all his squad members playing time in the earlier encounters, Banyana coach Joseph Mkhonza opted to field his strongest team for the final match.

“We fielded a powerful line up because it was our last match before facing South Korea in our opening fixture in Cyprus,” said Mkhonza.

“The girls applied themselves extremely well.”

The Cyprus tournament concludes on March 6, with Banyana in the final stages of preparation for the London Olympics in July. – Sapa
