JOHANNESBURG – Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday reported that several players are making progress with their injuries ahead of the Nedbank Cup match against Golden Arrows at FNB Stadium on Sunday (start 3.30pm).

“Bernard Parker has recovered from an ankle injury,” said first team physiotherapist Dave Milner. “He is back in training with the rest of the squad.”

Parker had been sidelined by a niggling ankle injury and has not played since the beginning of 2018.

Also back in training with the squad and still undergoing rehab is fullback Tsepo Masilela. “Tsepo has recovered from his ankle injury,” says Milner. “He is beeing assessed daily to get him ready for full training.”

There is a ray of hope coming from the medical room when it comes to the recently signed Kabelo Mahlasela. “Mahlasela has started with rehab in the gym,” Milner added. “He is doing cardio and leg strengthening. He is still using crutches and a brace. We are looking at eight weeks to go before he resumes training on the pitch.”

Philani Zulu injured his ankle and was stretchered off during the Bidvest Wits game on the weekend. “Zulu sprained his ankle,” the Kaizer Chiefs physiotherapist explained. “He is undergoing treatment and will be assessed throughout the week.”

Meanwhile, George Maluleka has a calf strain and will also be evaluated throughout the week.
