JOHANNESBURG - Chippa United boss Tebogo Moloi wants to open talks with Mamelodi Sundowns for the services of Keletso Makgalwa.
Moloi believes that his team need to acquire a striker so that his transfer business can be deemed concluded.
The former Orlando Pirates midfield maestro expressed his desire to land Rodney Ramagalela and Siyabonga Nomvethe but it seems that his attempts to bring these marksman failed and that’s why he has switched his attention to Makgalwa.
Makgalwa was promoted to the first team of Sundowns at the start of the season after shining in last season’s Multichoice Diski Challenge.
Moloi has been busy in this transfer window, signing the likes of Linda Mntambo, Mxolisi Macupu and Thabo “Jomo” Rakhale.
Speaking to the media after beating AmaZulu 2-0 at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi on Sunday, Moloi confirmed his admiration for Makgalwa.
“You know what, I would love to get the MDC striker of Mamelodi Sundowns, Keletso. I would love to have him, which can give me an option of playing the false No 9, like Sundowns are doing now or play with the two strikers that I have,” Moloi explained.
"If they can give me that boy, then I would know that my team is complete. But I know it is going to be difficult dealing with Pitso (Mosimane, the Sundowns coach). I know he also loves that boy. I would love to have a midfielder that is in the mould of him."
Moeketsi Sekola has returned to his club Highlands Park after spending six months on loan at Chippa United. That has left Moloi with Katlego Mashego and Macupu upfront.
'Something special'
“That boy can give you something, especially if you play a false No 9. Yes, the boy is not getting game time at the senior team but it will also depend on their MDC team because they have started using him. It will depend but I will be in touch with Pitso. Let us wait and watch this space if does happened,” Moloi elaborated.
On Monday Chippa completed a swap deal with Ajax Cape Town, which saw Bantu Mzwakali move to Ikamva and Samuel Julies head the other way. Another swap involving Chippa's Sandile Zuke and Ajax forward Prince Nxumalo is also thought to be in the works.
“Chippa United is a springboard for everybody, be it as the coach, they give you the chance. If you are a player and you want to kick-start your career, you come to this team. If you are a youngster and you want to play good football come to this team," Moloi added.
"If other teams want our players, the chairman is always willing to help out and give players more, especially those who serve their dues to the team. So, Samuel we all know he is a prolific goal scorer. He is everything that you want in a youngster. If there’s a call from one of the big teams, you have to release the player to go."
Moloi believes that Ajax coach Muhsin Ertugral can take his players to greater heights.
“You look at Mapahanga (Phetso), you look at Diamond Thopola, you at Thamsanqa Sangweni (who are all at Orlando Pirates), you know the list is endless. If Muhsin feels that he can do something better for our boys, then give them to Muhsin because he is one coach that helped us in terms of discipline and his understanding of tactics. At that time, we were still in the Dark Ages.
“Only when we went to Turkey we were exposed to tactics and did training twice a day. Muhsin can take them and make them better players. He can take them to the higher level and I’m all for it," Moloi concluded.
