BUENOS AIRES – Former Brazil international football star Ronaldinho is being held in Paraguay for allegedly using a fake passport to enter the country, prosecutors said Thursday.

"Ronaldinho travelled into Paraguay with a false passport," interior minister Euclides Acevedo said.

It is alleged Ronaldinho was using a passport originally issued to a Paraguayan citizen which was then manipulated.

According to a report in the ABC Color newspaper, Ronaldinho and his brother were given doctored passports by a businessman to attend the opening of a casino and various charity events.

The man who issues the bothers the fake travel documents was also detained.

Ronaldinho won the 2002 World Cup with Brazil and the 2006 Champions League with Barcelona in an illustrious playing career.
