JOHANNESBURG – Ghanian international Kasim Adams Nuhu is trying to raise awareness in the fight against Covid-19.

The defender plays for Fortuna Dusseldorf in the suspended German Bundesliga, and appeared in a video on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) twitter account, preaching proper hygiene protocol.

In the video the 24-year-old said: "Don't forget to wash your hands frequently, use alcohol-based hand sanitisers and cover your mouth and nose at all times if you sneeze or cough and dispose off all [used] tissues immediately.”

Nuhu’s side Fortuna are currently in 16th place with a meagre 22 points from 25 games. Fortuna are one spot above automatic relegation and will head into the playoffs if there is no further play in the league.

Meanwhile Ghana and Brentford midfielder Tariqe Fosu also made a passionate plea to the public on the GFA twitter account: “In these uncertain times, keep the faith as good times are ahead. It’s important you follow the government guidelines to protect yourself and your family. Please stay safe.”

Ghana and Amiens SC defender Nicholas Opoku said: “We are in a difficult time now, this coronavirus is infecting more and more people and proper hygiene and self-distancing and isolation is the only thing we as the public can do in the fight against this virus.

“Wash your hands with soap and sanitiser and avoid shaking hands.”
