A Premier League Soccer (PSL) player has been arrested and appeared in a Cape Town court on Monday on a charge of rape, Western Cape police said.
The suspect, 26, was arrested in Mpumalanga on Sunday in connection with a rape that allegedly occurred in February 2013 in Goodwood, Cape Town.
“The case has been postponed to April 7 for the accused to appear in the Parow Regional court. The name of the suspect cannot be disclosed due to the nature of the offence,” police said in a statement.
The arrest of the Platinum Stars player followed police issuing a warrant for his arrest earlier this month.
The Bellville Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences is investigating the case.
