DURBAN – Mamelodi Sundowns will announce Jeremy Brockie and Siyabonga Zulu as their new players on Monday morning.
Brockie was left out of the SuperSport squad which lost 1-0 to Lamontville Golden Arrows in an Absa Premiership clash at Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu on Saturday.
Mike Makaab of Prosport International confirmed to Independent Media that Brockie is set to be announced as a Sundowns player on Monday.
“I think the Brockie deal should be done and the latest maybe Monday morning. It is the same thing with Siyabonga Zulu. Sundowns want to have them in their Caf (Champions League) squad,” Makaab explained.
Zulu has been plying his trade at Platinum Stars for the last two seasons.
“SuperSport United values Jeremy Brockie and you can understand why. He has scored over 50 goals in two-and-a-half seasons. He was their top goal-scorer in the Caf Confederation Cup. So, it is not easy to release a player like him,” Makaab elaborated.
Sundowns have already lost the services of Leonardo Castro, who joined Kaizer Chiefs, and Brockie will be signed to replace him.
Yannick Zakri will make way for Brockie, and will be loaned out.
Sundowns can still sign another foreigner after Brockie. Currently, they have Fares Hachi, Bangaly Soumahoro, Razak Brimah and Zaki, who will be loaned out, on their books.
Denis Onyango, Anthony Laffor, Khama Billiat, Kennedy Mweene, Cuthbert Malajila and Mogakolodi Ngele all have South African permanent residence.
