DURBAN – Former Bloemfontein Celtic and Jomo Cosmos left back Cheslyn Jampies will ply his trade with the National First Division (NFD) outfit Richards Bay FC for the rest of the season.

This was confirmed by Richards Bay FC chairman Sifiso “Jomo” Biyela.

Jampies arrived in Richards Bay for trials last week.

“At the end of today, Jampies will be our player permanently. The coaches have made recommendations for me to sign him. We are discussing terms now. I want to give him a length contract,” Biyela explained.

Jampies took the Premier Soccer League (PSL) by storm two seasons ago when he was at Cosmos, and even earned a Bafana Bafana call-up.

The 27-year-old, who hails from Cape Town, was on trial at Free State Stars a couple of months ago, but Stars opted to sign former Orlando Pirates left back Patrick Phungwayo.

Richards Bay FC bought the NFD status of AmaZulu, who campaign in the Absa Premiership after buying the status of NFD champions Thanda Royal Zulu.
