EAST LONDON – Chippa United and Black Leopards dished out an exciting 2-2 draw in a PSL game at Sisa Dukashe Stadium tonight.

The late goal scored by Thatayaone Kgamanyane in the last moments of the game gave Chippa United the first point in the new season after losing two previous games. The stupendous Lidoda Duvha were unlucky not to go home with three points after they produced a fine performance today. Dan Malesela made six changes to the team that started the game against Orlando Pirates last week. His players played well but again could not finish chances they created in both stanzas.

The beautiful goal scored by Khuliso Mudau visitors following a very poor defensive work done by Chippa United defence led by Gerald Modisane and Thabo Ntethe who did not play against Orlando Pirates due to injury. The Chilli Boys quickly responded three minutes later. Andile Mbenyane, who is often used as a substitute, scored an equaliser after receiving a deft square pass from the hardworking Ruzaigh Gamildein.

The Lidoda Duvha defence was solid, midfielders like Phathutsedzo Nange and Karabo Tshepe exploited gaps in the middle of the park and at times forced Daniel Akpeyi to make good saves. Chippa’s confidence grew after the gaol. Thabo Rakhale and Kurk Lentjies troubled visitors in the wings – but their team mates were always outnumbered by the Leopards defenders. Even though goals were equal – but Chippa United were controlling the game and attacking more that their opponents.

A bitter pill to swallow, we will take the point and learn from this and get ready for @orlandopirates #hashamulilo🔥🔥🔥

Both teams continued with exciting and attacking football in the second stanza of the game. Seven minutes into the second half, Tumelo Khutlang, scored the second goal for Leopards after Akpeyi fisted the ball straight to him. Chippa United players were visible frustrated by the ever hardworking Leopards defenders.

Dan Malesela made a double substitution; Thatayaone Kgamanyane and Buyani Sali replaced Andile Mbenyane, who was isolated in the second half, and Ruzaigh Gamildien. The late goal scored by Thatayaone who came in as a substitute helped the Chilli Boys to get a point. Chippa United have failed to win in all the three games of the new season and today’s draw did not make much difference.
