POLOKWANE – Log-leaders Baroka FC were forced to come from behind on two occasions in drawing 2-2 with Platinum Stars at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday.

Stars shocked the hosts by taking the lead in the 36th minute when winger Katlego Otladisa slotted the ball home past Baroka’s Namibian international goalkeeper Virgil Vries.

The Stars rearguard survived some intense pressure as Baroka showed just why they have only lost twice in their last 18 games.

Eventually, though, Stars goalkeeper Dino Visser was beaten when the home team’s Botswana international winger Mpho Kgaswane equalised matters with a long-range effort in the 58th minute.

Stars’ Malawian midfield kingpin Robert Ng’ambi nearly sent all three points the way of the visitors when he reacted quickly to round Vries to score three minutes from time.

However, Baroka are at the top end of the Absa Premiership table for a reason, and Robin Ngalande volleyed home from range past Visser to give the men from Limpopo a share of the spoils.

Baroka now have 19 points from 11 games, and will travel to Tshwane to host Mamelodi Sundowns on December 5.

Stars, on nine points from 12 league matches and with just a lone win this season, will return to Limpopo on December 5 to play Polokwane City.
