Maritzburg United are chasing SuperSport United forward Fagrie Lakay.
Lakay is contracted to Amatsatsantsa A Pitori but was loaned out to Ajax Cape Town for the second half of the season.
The young lad from Cape Town made a huge impact for the Urban Warriors with his stellar performances.
United chairman Farook Kadodia confirmed that they have made an offer for Lakay.
“SuperSport United gave us permission to engage with Lakay. We’ve made an offer for him. We are still waiting for him to respond and we will take it from there,” Kadodia said.
Changes are looming at the Team of Choice. The club is looking to beef up the squad with four significant signings.
Lakay is one of the targets for United. The KwaZulu-Natal Midlands club recently parted ways with Bevan Fransman. They have lined up Denwin Farmer as his replacement.
United enjoyed their best season ever in top flight football. They finished fourth on the log and reached two semi finals.
As a results, top teams in the Premier Soccer League have shown interest in to some of United shining stars like Siphesihle Ndlovu.
“Obviously there will always be an interest in a player like Ndlovu. He has done well for us this season but I think he still needs one more season with us. We don’t want to jeopardise his career. For now, he is not for sale but we can’t prevent teams from showing an interest in a player like him. “ Kadodia elaborated.
Ndlovu is nominated for five PSL gongs. He is also in the Bafana Bafana team that will compete in the Cosafa Cup in Limpopo this week.
