Pretoria – University of Pretoria outclassed Ajax Cape Town with a comprehensive 3-0 win in their Premiership match at the Tuks Stadium, in Pretoria, on Wednesday.

AmaTuks strikers Geofrey Massa and Thabo Mnyamane were on top form as they each scored to power their team to victory.

Massa opened the scoring in the 11th minute and rounded up his brace in the 89th minute, while Mnyamane scored in the 19th minute to secure the university club's second win of the season.

AmaTuks came into the encounter with five losses and three draws. Ajax, meanwhile, had been among the outstanding teams in the league with a record of five wins and two draws.

The result was Ajax's their third loss of the season.

Goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola made some early stops to keep Ajax in contention as the hosts launched an early onslaught.

During the opening sequence, AmaTuks were the first to get a chance at goal, but winger Thabo Mosadi failed to capitalise on a cross by Itumeleng Nkwana.

AmaTuks goalkeeper Washington Arubi was alert early on in the encounter, as he tipped away a long range shot by Keagan Dolly in the eighth minute.

Dolly, the Ajax talisman, tried to get his team on the front foot but the opposition attack proved too intense to counter.

Before his opening goal, Massa had another free header but he could only watch as it went agonisingly wide of the target.

In the second half, after conceding two in the first period, Ajax looked to get back into the match promptly.

But with AmaTuks captain Tebogo Monyai ever-watchful at the back, Ajax made little headway.

Ajax midfield enforcer Travis Graham had his hands full trying to contain the opposition threat, which came from all angles attempting to impose itself on home territory.

But the visitors were not able to settle into the match, and were in the end beaten convincingly. – Sapa
