JOHANNESBURG – Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande had an evening to remember on Wednesday night when he played his 200th game for the club in their 2-0 victory over Cape Town City.

“It was an emotional game,” reflected Katsande afterwards.

The Zimbabwean’s words had a double meaning. Not only was it the midfielder’s 200th official match wearing the Amakhosi jersey, but it also gave Chiefs their first win of the season.

About his milestone, Katsande added: “My teammates and the supporters, who are simply phenomenal, played a big role to help me play so many matches. I am happy we got the three points on the night.

“To be successful is the result of all the hard work you put in. While growing up, I knew that my soccer abilities will give me an opportunity to succeed and to make a living, and that’s why I worked hard to reach this achievement.”

About what still lies in the store for the future, the hard-tackling midfielder said: “I am still very hungry and I have a burning desire to continue doing well for the club. I want to go down as a legend in Kaizer Chiefs’ rich history.”
