LONDON - Novak Djokovic could need to take a break from tennis if the 12-time Grand Slam champion’s struggles continue, according to John McEnroe.

Now working with Andre Agassi, Djokovic is playing at Eastbourne this week ahead of Wimbledon.

McEnroe was asked whether Djokovic would consider his options if he fell short at SW19.

‘I am sure he is already going to do that,’ said BBC pundit McEnroe. ‘That is part of why I am assuming he brought Andre in. I would say at the end of the US Open (in September) is when he is going to decide if he needs to take significant time off.

‘I would be amazed if it were before then. It’s hard to enjoy it so much when you have had the type of success he has had and you are losing early. Let’s face it, that is less enjoyable.’

John McEnroe is part of the BBC Sport team for Wimbledon 2017.
