Cape Town - South African Internet users were on Thursday afternoon affected by faults on cable systems that supply the country.

The Seacom website reported on Thursday afternoon that it was experiencing multiple outages on the terrestrial network across Egypt. "All of our international connectivity through Egypt has been affected since 14:06GMT on the 21st January 2016."

The site said that the terrestrial network had been successfully repaired by 16:46 GMT - about 6.45pm South African time.

My Broadband quoted several Internet service providers as notifying their customers that there was an outage.
