Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan is out of line accusing banks and financial institutions of being “greedy monsters”. In his own backyard he has colleagues who thieve and plunder all day long with impunity. His tirade against the banks tends to obscure the corruption and fraud taking place right under our noses by so many government members.

In any event, our banks have received a clean bill of health from none other than Gordhan himself, not long ago.

So the accusations levelled by the minister were against overseas banks. What on earth has that to do with this country? The minister should concentrate on trying to curb the “undisguised greed” of his fat-cat ANC cronies in the government.
