As the hot Summer days take over, what better way to cool down than with a tasty drink? On Tuesday, local craft beer Bullish launched their product at new 'it' venue Rockets out in Bryanston.

Attended by celebrities and industry personalities, the evening was hosted by The Queen actor SK Khoza. Guests were given a bitcoin that would see one person walk away with the chance to win R100 000.

Co-founder of the beer Celeste Matsose said the brand was about showing black excellence. Her partner and co-founder Tumelo Matsose said it was all about breaking the rules and changing things around.

"We wanted to create a beer that was quality, a beer that was made from the best ingredients. A beer that could face up with global standards. I think we have done that. We are proud of the quality, we are Bullish about the product," said Celeste.

The beer is available in two flavours- a pilsner and a pale ale.

She said the product was the brainchild of people who had been through adversity, those who were not born into opportunity.

"The people who have perseverance and tenacity, the ability to rise above. The brand is there to say- be bold, be brave- for people who have turned adversity into a springboard and disappointment into a catalyst to do better and be better regardless of circumstance."

She added that it was a brand that was by the people for the people.

"We are the first craft beer to believe and to have a fully black excellence integrated line from distributors to suppliers in everything we do because we believe that the people in this country are the best and can do the best."

The event was attended by LeAnne Dlamini, MTV Base's Kim Jayde, TT Mbha and Chef Benny among many others.
