Johannesburg - Musician and producer Lita Kupela, who is popularly known as Deep London, is smashing the amapiano industry waves with a storm.

Deep London has taken South African amapiano to the next level with his smash hit Hamba Wena, featuring Boohle, which has over a million views on YouTube.

Kupela has also released another new hit called Piano Njabulise, featuring Murumba Pitch and Nkosazana Daughter, that is already trending on all digital platforms and on social media sites such as Tiktok and Instagram.

Asked by The Star what inspired him to venture into the music industry and specifically the piano genre, Kupela said: “I come from East London, better known as eMonti. I started music in my early years when I was growing up, and then later on in life I entered a Red Bull competition and won. I was from there onwards, where I said, I am not looking back; I love music, and I’m continuing with this.

“From there, I was a deep house music producer while also DJing, and then in 2017, I released my first single titled ‘Greatest thing in life’ and then after, I continued learning music production up until amapiano came into the mainstream.

“So from there I came about to producing amapiano and I feel so grateful because of the way they received Hamba Wena, it gave me hope and made me believe that hard work and patience really pays off.

“Piano is a new wave in SA, and the whole continent is receiving it well. It is the sound for everyone and it brings joy to the kids, teenagers and adults.”

On his other new single, Ngijabulise, Kupela said: “I dedicated it to all the piano lovers and how we connect through it. All I want to do is to show every young artist and dreamer out there that the dream is possible to achieve, and the imaginations can be a reality.”
