Acclaimed musician Loyiso Gijana, fondly known as Lloyiso, shares his epic highs and thrilling updates about his career which has been vaulting up.
The 23-year old singer from Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape found stardom when he was in the running for the coveted title of Idols SA in 2015.
We sat with the entertainer ahead of his big trip to the US, where he is set to meet the managers of Republic Records, and also spoke about his latest offering titled, Speak, which dropped on April 1. This song comes after the success of his first music single, Seasons.
The star has been making a mark with his craft over the past few years, from posting covers on YouTube to being signed by Republic Records, a New York City-based American record label owned by Universal Music Group.
Asked about the inspiration behind his music, he mentioned his ability to evoke people’s emotions.
“My music is inspired by a lot of things. It also depends on how I am feeling. I write music about what I feel is needed by the world, and that is vulnerability and being able to take those emotions and use them.”
We took a trip down to when he first heard that Republic Records had wanted him to be part of their team.
The music star said before being signed by Republic Records his emails were flooded by big names all wanting to work with him.
“I was overwhelmed; I did not know how to feel. I was just like, everyone wants a piece of Lloyiso but I am waiting for that right one. When I received the news it took a while to believe it.”
He identifies being under this prominent record label as the greatest benchmark in all his achievements.
Republic Records has also signed prominent artists such as Drake, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift and many more others.
