Johannesburg – Mandla Maphumulo, fondly known as Mampintsha, has come out guns blazing to defend his wife Babes Wodumo, real name Bongekile Simelane, after trolls had a go at her about her appearance.

A few pictures of popular gqom star Babes Wodumo in which, according to the critics, she appears “slimmer” than before, have been doing the rounds on social media.

Maphumulo, who Simelane shares her baby with, told body shamers and critics where to get off, pointing out that they should have better things to do than saying despicable things about he and his wife.

Simelane also responded to the speculations on Facebook, revealing that most people did not understand her journey as a new mom.

“I lost weight during my pregnancy,” Simelane said.

After giving birth she lost more weight.

Simelane said the most shocking thing about the nasty comments was that they were from women, who were supposed to have a better understanding of motherhood.

The “Wololo” hitmaker questioned whether she was being judged because she was a celebrity or as a young woman finding her feet in motherhood.

“I am enjoying my motherhood kakhulu so for women to joke about my journey of being a mother angazi bafunani ngempela,” she wrote.

Simelane revealed that when her pictures were circulating on social media, many speculated that she was not well, while others suggested she was on drugs.

“Abanye are quick to judge bathi ngyagula. I need help or I am taking drugs.”

Simelane rubbished the rumours, saying losing weight was common among new moms.
