Johannesburg - Edwin Manyaka Rapholo, a man from Pretoria, is embroiled in a rather mind-boggling legal battle.

After losing an appeal in 2010 against his conviction and sentence for culpable homicide, he complied with a court order to hand himself over to authorities at the Atteridgeville Correctional Centre for imprisonment.

But prison officials refused to jail him as they were not in possession of records enabling them to do so.

Undisputed evidence indicated that Rapholo was told to go home and he would be collected once the officials received the necessary documents.

This only happened six-and-a-half years later. After being informed on August 29, 2016 that he should present himself at the Atteridgeville prison, Rapholo scored a reprieve from the North Gauteng High Court, Pretoria.

Now the Supreme Court Bench has postponed a decision on his sentence being fully suspended to mid-September.
