Johannesburg - Mzansi’s favourite family is coming back to entertain and thrill fans in the new year.

The Ranakas return for a fourth season and it promises to be filled with all the drama fans have become used to.

The family have always been open to sharing their lives with viewers, an intimacy that has endeared them to their fans.

For this upcoming season, the family will be continuing the themes they touched on in the last season.

From sibling rivalry and healing to building a legacy, the reality show will continue on its beat.

Shooting for this new season commenced in July and the family had to shoot under the Covid-19 regulations.

The family – Ntate Ranaka, Mama Siba, Manaka, Dineo, Mpumi, Mzingisi and Ranaka, along with their partners and children – will take viewers through their lives, how they managed the lockdown, mending relationships and building their family.

Media personality Dineo celebrated the launch of her beauty line Luvdr Beauty in September this year, making sure to still keep herself busy during the lockdown.

“For the past three seasons, The Ranakas by Brains At Work Media have given viewers excellent, authentic content that has mirrored the everyday lives of families, not just in Leondale in eastern Johannesburg, but in most South African households.

“This season will not be short of the drama, sibling squabbles and cultural lessons, all while they navigate the road ahead as a family to build a legacy. Viewers should brace themselves for more entertainment in the new year,” said Nomsa Philiso, the director of local entertainment channels at M-Net.

Towards the end of Season 3, viewers were invited to Lapeng la Ranaka Eatery as the family scrambled their resources and came together to open a restaurant at their family home in drama-filled episodes.

Viewers also got to see Mpumi, married to a white German man, unite with her fiercest rival Dineo, before causing her father to break down over her rape ordeal.

Manaka was on a path of self-discovery, while Mzingisi and Michelle tried to adjust to married life. The youngest sibling, Ranaka, continued to face the wrath of parents who were unimpressed with his lifestyle.

The new season will see Ntate Ranaka and Mama Siba adopting a few causes as part of impacting the community positively while they try to build a family legacy. Viewers will get to see Dineo and Mpumi’s journey to keep the peace in their relationship while Mpumi also experiences severe marital strain. Fans can also look forward to seeing the relationship between eldest sibling Manaka and youngest sibling Ranaka grow.

Despite Covid-19 disrupting the entertainment industry, Dineo found innovative ways to remain in business as she also juggled working on her relationship and building a family unit. The new season premieres on Mzansi Magic on January 7.
