Red Bull Dance Your Style 2021 title-holder Shannon Kivido, fondly known as Shanny J, is brimming with pride after being announced as the first South African female to appear on the Red Bull limited-edition can.

Shanny J competed as a wild card and won the ultimate title at the Red Bull Dance Your Style national final that took place at the Castle of Good Hope.

This versatile dancer took the world of dance by storm with her fusion of waacking and voguing with other dance styles such as sbujwa, amapiano, hip hop and freestyling.

Shanny J now joins the list of iconic artists who have made it to this limited-edition feature.

She said she is elated and grateful for all the support received.

“I would have never thought that this was God’s plan for me! To be on the can of a brand this big is both unbelievable and extremely exciting and I cannot wait to see where my dance journey leads me next! I’m extremely grateful to Red Bull and for everyone who has supported me,” said Shanny J.

Mzansi has seen great names such as Springboks captain Siya Kolisi and MotoGP racer Brad Binder appear on the limited-edition can of the Red Bull energy drink.

Last year, Red Bull Dance Your Style had its first mention on the can when 2019 Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final wild card Teboho “Tebza” Diphehlo also appeared alongside international freestyle icon Angyil McNeal.

Shanny J is gearing up to wow the masses once more on December 10 at the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final in Johannesburg alongside the 2022 South African winner set to be crowned on October 15 at 012 Central in the dance capital of Pretoria.

This highly anticipated event will see the top 16 dancers go head-to-head at the national final to decide who goes to the world final in December.

The national final will be hosted by popular dancer and media personality Bontle Modiselle and Elly The Entertainer and performances by DJ Da Cutt, Nasty C, DBN Gogo, Blxkie, 25K, Banques and Trancemicsoul.

After an exciting regional qualifying tour around the country in search of the top street dancers in South Africa, the organisers will soon be announcing the winner representing the country at the world final taking place at Montecasino on December 10.
