He is famous for singing I Believe I Can Fly.
But R Kelly was prevented from jetting out on a media tour after he suffered a “health emergency” yesterday.
The 45-year-old singer was due to launch his wonderfully titled book Soulacoaster in New York, as well as appear on Today and the Jimmy Fallon Show.
But he ended up staying home in Chicago to rest.
However, he has pulled out after suffering from problems related to surgery he had on his vocal cords last year.
The Chocolate Factory star’s representative said: “The book launch is postponed due to a health emergency that has sidelined Mr Kelly in Chicago.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.
“Initial indications are that he is suffering from complications from surgery he had last year to treat an abscess on his vocal cords. It is unclear how long R Kelly may be sidelined.”
It is just the latest setback for the star, who has been dogged by financial problems recently.
Earlier this month it was revealed he owed nearly $5 million (R42m) in unpaid taxes dating back to 2005.
And last year he was forced to sell his mansion in Chicago due to his failure to keep up with mortgage payments.
Despite paying tax bills of $2,6m (R22m) in 2008 and $1m (R8,4m) in 2009, he still owes the US federal government more than $4,8m (R40,4m). – Daily Mail
