A video captured by a resident from a building close the crime scene, shows several armed men loading what looks like money boxes onto the back of a bakkie parked in the middle of the road while others continue to shoot in the direction of the police from the side of the road.

Seconds later the bakkie is seen speeding off as some of the men jump on. It is then followed by two sedans believed to be another getaway vehicle. The driver of the Fidelity cash van then tries to drive in the direction of the vehicles before he suddenly stops his vehicle.
