Bloemfontein - Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema’s incitement case was on Monday postponed in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court to June next year pending a petition he lodged in the high court challenging the constitutionality of his charges.
Malema’s attorney Tumi Mokoena told Magistrate Mziwonke Hinxa that same as Malema’s appearance at the Newcastle Magistrate’s Court, the Bloemfontein charges would also be challenged in the high court.
Malema is challenging the charges levelled against him under the Riotous Assemblies Act of 1956.
The apartheid-era law has to be challenged because it is illegal, Malema said.
Hinxa postponed the matter to June 5 next year.
