From Seal, Tevin Campbell, Macy Gray and Jenny Morris, Sun International’s The Maslow in Sandton is fast becoming a celebrity hang out spot.

And judging from its latest arrival, more Hollywood A-listers are likely to visit this 4-star deluxe hotel in the future.

Earlier this month, Everybody Hates Chris actress Tichina Arnold spent 4 days at The Maslow and loved every bit of her stay.

So much that she even wore a colourful doek and posed for photographs with the staff.

This was the star’s first visit to South Africa.

She was in the country to shoot season 3 of Lockdown, a prison drama on Mzansi Magic.

In a press statement released by the hotel, she expressed her love for the country, comparing it to New York.

“I love South Africa. And this city(Johannesburg) - the fashion and business district - reminds me of New York.

“I’ve been fortunately blessed to travel extensively throughout the world. This is my first time to South Africa, but I have traveled to other African countries such as Nigeria and Senegal. This hotel (The Maslow Sandton) is a lot like the Hotel Nikko, a once famous hotel in Beverly Hills. The people here in South Africa have been just wonderful…”

The star also found time away from her filming schedule to visit Soweto and its famous Vilakazi Street.

There was even a special dinner in her honour at Gemelli Cucino in Bryanston where she sang for guests.

General Manager: The Maslow Sandton, Ashwin Jose, told IOL Travel that The Maslow had become a preffered destination for travellers and celebrities alike.

The suite has a lounge and dining area.

He said Arnold was smitten with her executive suite and the in house restaurant’s chicken livers.

“We were glad that Tichina enjoyed her stay at our hotel, especially the staff. Our aim for guests who visit is to feel a sense of calm and tranquility. We want them to enjoy our offerings and to leave feeling relaxed.

“The Maslow provides travellers value for money while still offering the same great amenities that hotels in our grading provide,” said Jose.
