Bowesdorp was the original Kamieskroon. The area was founded by Dr Bowes but they soon had to relocate to where Kamieskroon is now in 1924 because the valley was too small for their city. The first thing they moved was the Church. Ruins from the Church and police station can still be seen in the landscape - Photo: Matthew JordaanAugrabies - 120915 - A hammerkop (Hammerhead Stork) catches fish in a small dam just at Dundi Lodge just outside of Augrabies - Photo: Matthew JordaanThe Northern Cape is marketed as an extreme destination: abseiling, 4x4 tours and river rafting, but it would be better described as a place of solitude.
