City Sightseeing Cape Town, the company that runs the open-top, double-decker red bus tours of the Mother City, has launched a night tour.

Running until February 27, it starts at the V&A Waterfront, and the bus departs at 6pm on a two-and-a-half hour tour.

It takes holidaymakers past all the best night attractions, such as the Christmas lights in Adderley Street.

It stops at Signal Hill for a sunset experience. Visitors are urged to take a picnic basket with snacks and sundowners, and warm clothes just in case the weather turns.

The tour ends back at the Two Oceans Aquarium at the V&A Waterfront. It is not a hop-on, hop-off tour.

Tickets cost R80 per adult and R40 per child.

City Sightseeing now offers a choice of three tours on their open-top bus – the one-day Red City Tour, the one-day Blue Mini Peninsula tour and the newly launched Night Tour.

Anyone who buys a two-day ticket, combining the Red and Blue Tours, will receive a free ticket for the Night Tour.

The City Sightseeing ticket office is located outside the Two Oceans Aquarium at the V&A Waterfront and can be contacted at 021 511 6000.

Buses operate daily from 9am, with commentary available in 14 languages.
