Capetonians woke to the news that there is a light dusting of snow on their much-beloved landmark was covered in a light dusting of snow.

Table Mountain is more than a kilometre above sea-level, and it does get the odd flurry of snow occasionally, however, it’s incredibly rare for snow to make an appearance in September.

Advice from the Cableway for those wanting to venture to the top of the mountain to catch a glimpse of the snow is to dress warmly as temperates on the summit are below freezing.

This footage was shared by the Table Mountain cable car Twitter account shows staff braving the icy conditions as large snowflakes fall outside the top cableway station.
