The City of Durban added two Riksha buses, just in time for the upcoming festive season boom.
The Deputy City Manager for Economic Development and Planning at the eThekwini Municipality, Phillip Sithole, said the tour starts at the Durban Tourism office in North Beach and will pass attractions like the Moses Mabhida Stadium, City Hall and Kwa Muhle Museum.
The tour takes 2-3 hours.
Sithole said they will order another two buses next year that will take travellers to the northern and southern townships in Durban. He said around 200-400 people travelled on the bus daily.

“We are really excited about the new buses and believe that travellers will have a comfortable time touring,” he said.
In a press statement, Mayor Zandile Gumede, said tourism had been a major contributor in the city’s economy.

She said travellers to Durban were potential ambassadors of the city and that the Ricksha Bus was the most convenient way for them to explore the tourism offerings.
