FlySafair confirmed that the motivation behind running this sale was part of an awareness drive.

Cape Town - Less than a month after commencing their scheduled operations between Cape Town and Johannesburg, and two weeks after the launch of their Cape Town to Port Elizabeth service, FlySafair began flight operations between Cape Town and George, as announced on August 12 when seats went on sale.

Momentum has been building on this important coastal leisure destination, as only a week ago FlySafair also announced new service to be added to both George and Port Elizabeth from its second base at Johannesburg’s O.R.Tambo airport, with services commencing on December 3 in time for the festive season.

“We are extremely happy with our progress and our bookings over the last few weeks, and have no doubt that this upward trend will continue with the operational launch of our third route,” explains Lorna Terblanche, VP Passenger Services.

The airline says that is has been inundated with calls through to their call centre as well as online bookings since taking flight in mid-October.

“We have certainly received a warm welcome from the South African flying public, further supporting our decision to introduce our new low cost model into the market. At the same time, we have seen a significant number of first time flyers join us on onboard thanks in large part, we believe, to our value fares and the ability to tailor make your ticket,” she continues.

FlySafair offers passengers a base fare from R499* between Johannesburg and PE, George and Cape Town; and R399* between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth and George (*including taxes). These fares secure passengers their seat, along with two pieces of hand luggage weighing no more than 7kg combined.

Any additional extras such as check-in luggage, pre-flight seat selection, onboard catering, etc is charged for separately - which truly allows passengers to determine their ticket price.

“Our model is based on international low-cost best practice and is one we believe that the South African market can truly benefit from. Certainly we have already seen our model opening the skies to new flyers and we are confident that our passenger numbers will continue to grow, especially as we introduce new routes,” Terblanche concludes.
