Gather the clan for a family day outdoors at the Obikwa Mountain Biking Day in the Bottelary Hills Renosterveld Conservancy in the Stellenbosch Winelands on November 20.

The adventure is set to start at 7.30am for 8am at The Only One Restaurant on the Bottelary Road, with two mountain-biking route options.

There is a challenging 18.5km route and a 9km route for parents and their children who want to take it at a more leisurely pace.

Each group will be lead by members of the Bottelary Hills Renosterveld Conservancy.

There will be ample water points along the route and sweeper vehicles to assist with problems such as punctures.

Even Obikwa’s winemaker, Michael Bucholz, is preparing to join in the family day. The ride will once again end at The Only One Restaurant with something light to eat.

With eco-friendly practices high on its list of priorities, not only is the label encouraging Capetonians to spend a day in nature on wheels, but it also prides itself on being the first South African wine to switch to the new environmentally friendly 350g ultra-lightweight green bottles. - Cape Times
