The USA is attracting more young and adventurous Millennial travellers, who are drawn to its vast and varied outdoor experiences and natural beauty, not to mention the iconic big cities. According to research by Contiki, the US is in the top 3 most-desired destinations for travel globally. .

Instead of seeking a connection to pop culture, the youth travel specialist travel brand found 18 to 35 year-olds want to connect with the outdoors. Almost half of Generation Y and 54 percent of Generation Z travellers surveyed said a key motivator for travel was “to appreciate natural beauty”.

Managing Director of The Travel Corporation, Teresa Richardson, said travelling in your twenties should be at the top of your list of priorities for so many reasons.

“It is an emerging trend. Where previous generations were attracted to the US by Hollywood and cosmopolitan meccas, Gen Y, and even more so Gen Z, are seeking out more active and adventurous experiences. We think a trip can do both, offering diversity in experience that is reflective of the country itself,” said Richardson.

Here are some places young people are exploring:

 Las Vegas

Follow the famous Vegas Strip all the way to the outdoor capital of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Blog, Vitalvegas.com has revealed the Stratosphere hotel will add bungee jumping to its list of adrenaline-pumping thrill attractions. Guests can already test the SkyJump, which involves an open-air leap 253 metres above The Strip. There is also X-Scream (gliding over the edge), Insanity (spinning over the edge) and Big Shot (straight up and down).

Those in the know recommend Joe’s Seafood and Prime Steak & Stone Crab, which Vital Vegas describes as a ‘Certified Strip Stand-Out’.

Los Angeles

Described as "glitzy, gritty, yet quirky and charming”, a stop in Los Angeles is your opportunity to get a bit closer to Hollywood.

There are fun and interesting bars on Sunset Boulevard, or walk in the footsteps of the famous on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Sip a latte at Venice Beach or, for some added thrills, hit the amusement parks.

Y Travel Blog recommends the South Bay Beaches for a laid-back experience. “The sunsets… are worth the trip alone. Make sure you stop for a sundowner at one of the many beer gardens along the Hermosa promenade.”

New York

Explore one of America's most exciting cities. From 5th Avenue, to Central Park, the Empire State Building and Madison Square Garden, make the most of this buzzing city with insider guides and experience The Big Apple the way locals do.

Head out on foot and use the subway as you take in a perfect mix of sightseeing.
