Raise the village that raised you by winning educational prizes for you and your community with Simba®

As part of their Back to School annual initiative, Simba® will be providing consumers with the opportunity to win educational prizes totalling R5 million.

Through the on-pack promotion, consumers that purchase a bag of Simba chips can stand a chance to win educational prizes, including stationery vouchers, book vouchers, cash vouchers and 300 bursaries to contribute towards their school fees.

As one of South Africa’s favourite family sharing snacks, Simba® is taking their philosophy to “Mapha” (share) a step further by giving consumers the opportunity to win a Literacy Lab worth R1 Million, for their community.

Designed by Nicholas Whitcutt Architects, the Literacy Lab is an architectural remodelling of a 40ft container that will be donated as a library structure for a school. The Literacy Lab will house hundreds of books, computers, board games, toys, work stations and will have niche spaces where students can read.

The library will allow the winner to give back to, and develop their community through the power of literacy.

Together with Simba’s partner in literacy Worldreader, the Literacy Lab will also include 10 e-readers pre-loaded with more than 35,000 books. Not only can the winners of the Literacy Lab unlock their imagination and benefit from the digital library, but Simba is encouraging all consumers to be winners by accessing an abundance of books through Worldreader’s digital library available on its website: www.worldreader.org.

The Simba® #RaiseYourVillage competition will be supported with a powerful campaign highlighting the importance of empowering communities through literacy and education.

The campaign will feature literacy heavyweights including Playwright and Author, Gcina Mhlophe; Performance Poet, Lebo Mashile; and Actresses Thuli Thabethe and Jessica Nkosi.

Unathi Mhlatyana, MU GM SSA, at PepsiCo commented: “As a company with purpose at our core, we are passionate about improving literacy and education within South Africa.. The Mapha campaign aims to give back to our consumers in a way that will make a lasting impact on their own or their loved ones’ education. Through the on-pack promotion, we aim to enhance access to vital literacy resources for around 3,500 South Africans in addition to the donation of our “grand prize”, the Literacy Lab. We hope that this will create a diverse and lively space for young students that will build a strong foundation for

reading and learning in their community”.

To stand a chance to win a prize for both you and your community, purchase any pack of Simba® chips, dial *120*74622* Unique Code#. The competition will run until 31 March 2019.
