Social media standards have put a lot of women under pressure to be perfect, whereas no one is really perfect. With all the make-up trends from eyebrows on fleek to the
perfect face beat, these days women feel naked without
full-on make-up.
To restore the confidence of being beautiful without having any
make-up and breaking away from the stigma, skin technology brand Nimue has started a 12-week no-make-up challenge for brides. #Nomakeupbride is a 12-week challenge transformation process for your skin at a deeper level, with advanced and
concentrated formulas working to restore your skin health and visibly improve all problem areas.
Before taking part, you need to go to a participating salon to do a skin analysis. It is recommended to have this done by a professional in order to ascertain your skin type and discuss your skin concerns, so that they can tailor-make a regimen to suit your individual needs.
This will ensure you get the best results from your 12-week challenge kit, which has the best products for your skin type.
We spoke to bride-to-be Cleo le Roux, 27, a final-year medicine
student at Wits University, who is getting married on December 16 to Steven Beckett. She shares how she wants her wedding to be memorable with the #nomakeupbride challenge.

Why did you decide to join the #nomakeupchallenge?
The stress of final year and planning a wedding really took a toll on my skin. I
initially entered because I thought it was sponsored skincare, but then I found out that it was a #nomakeupchallenge.
Are you a person who doesn’t like make-up or is it just for this challenge?
I don’t wear make-up on a daily basis because I always end up touching my face and then looking like a raccoon. I do enjoy putting on make-up when I go out; my favourite is bronzer.
Is your groom-to-be supportive of this?
My husband-to-be has been supportive of me taking part in the challenge. Our wedding day is about us, and I wouldn’t have been able to do this if he didn’t agree.
Having to go down the aisle with no make-up, what does it mean to you?
Walking down the aisle with no make-up means breaking my insecurities and being more confident in my own skin, and this is Nimue’s promise. On a normal day I wouldn’t worry, but when everyone’s eyes are on you and a professional
photographer is capturing those moments, I would love to look
beautiful.
What words of encouragement would you give for someone who might also do the challenge but is a bit sceptical?
Trying something new is always daunting, but I’ve seen some amazing results and other people have noticed as well, so take the leap and try Nimue. This is a special day in my life, and I would like it to be memorable.
