The squad included former Proteas in Vaughn van Jaarsveld, Dane Vilas and Roelof van der Merwe.

Aaron Phangiso was also included in the squad and would be expected to make his national debut in the T20 International Series against New Zealand.

There was an emphasis on blooding younger players with Stiaan van Zyl, Mangaliso Mosehle, Hardus Viljoen and Craig Alexander all in the squad.

“These are exciting times for South African cricket,” said South Africa A coach Vinnie Barnes.

“There are several youngsters in the Proteas T20 International squad and this match will give an opportunity for some more youngsters to show their worth.

“There are also players who have represented the Proteas before and they will want to remind the selectors that they are still in the mix.”
