Johannesburg - The itinerary for South Africa’s three-Test tour to Australia later this year has been confirmed.
The trip will begin in Perth with the first Test taking place at the WACA Ground from November 3 to7, before moving on to Hobart’s Blundstone Arena for the second Test from November 12 to 16.
It will be the first time the Proteas have played a Test at the Hobart venue and just the second time they’ve played an international against Australia in Tasmania following a One-Day International between the two sides back in 2009.
“We have worked very closely with Cricket Tasmania to provide some certainty over match content for the coming years, which we hope will grow interest and demand for attending international matches at Blundstone Arena, which is now a truly world-class venue,” Cricket Australia Chief Executive Officer, James Sutherland, said.
“This year’s match between Australia and South Africa presents a great opportunity for Tasmanian cricket fans to see two of the world’s great teams in action. We know how much Tasmanians love their cricket and we hope to see them in full force for this great fixture.
“This is a vital match for Australia and we know that the team will want to see a big turnout from Tasmanians to support them.”
The South Africans will then travel to Adeleide for the final Test at the Adeleide Oval from November 24 to 28.
The Proteas have won their previous two Test series in Australia, in 2008-09 and 2012-13.
