West Indies, after losing the toss, made 238/9 in the second one-day international against England at The Oval here on Tuesday.

Dwayne Bravo struck 77 as West Indies recovered from the loss of four quick wickets after opener Chris Gayle had marked his return to international duty with a blistering fifty featuring five sixes.

Bravo and Kieron Pollard (41), who were both given reprieves by England, shared a fifth-wicket stand of exactly 100.

James Anderson led England's attack with two wickets for 38 runs in his maximum permitted 10 overs.
